PROJECT

In 2011 Dubois Naval architects were commissioned by A2B Marine to design the largest sloop ever built. With the length of 100 meters the owner wanted to carry a whole arsenal of tenders on board, including a 16m long range vessel. Just like her mothership, the tender was to become a state of art lightweight long range vessel built to the highest standards of high performance boat building and included a whole set of unique features. Equipped with three 440 hp engines she reaches 50 knots of speed and weighs only 11 tons.

After the initial design arrangement was finished the A2B Marine was looking for a company to engineer and build the tender. Xtenders jumped at the opportunity and applied their knowledge of carbon fiber composite technology to execute the project.

From the beginning I worked together with Xtenders to win the project. Based on the General Arrangement we went through multiple design iterations to materialize the concept of Dubois.

It took a team effort to execute the project. To deliver the best product possible we worked together with Structeam engineering (UK), GCS Architects (Spain), Bootwerk Interiors (Netherlands), Marstrom Composites (Sweden) and Trimarine Composites (Portugal). Being in charge of the design I was responsible for the translation of the minimalistic vision into solutions and their integration into the structure of the vessel.
